In a week my Husband celebrates his name day. This year I decided to make him a present that will be not only creative but also practical, and I will need your help with it. If you want to contribute to a meaningful present for my Husband, read more!
When we launched this blog, we had a clear division of responsibilities. I was supposed to write texts, choose graphics and take care of the overall aesthetics, and my Husband was to deal with technical stuff and site promotion. In practice, He verifies my texts, and I try to be active on social media: I run our Facebook fan page , publish posts on Twitter and answer numerous gift-related questions on Quora (a question-and-answer website I highly recommend). Although my Husband’s job has little to do with webmastering, and just like me, He is just learning to excel in this area, I thought it would be a meaningful present for him if a record-breaking number of people visited our blog on the occasion of his name day.
How can we achieve it?
While we were studying different blogging-related topics, we found out that Google promotes sites that are linked with others. Facebook does likewise: it no longer shows posts to all people who liked a given page, but makes their reach dependent on the activity related to a given post. A single ‘like’ makes what I write visible to a dozen more people. An even better way to reach new people is to share links. Two months ago a friend of mine recommended our blog on her fan page, and on this very day we had nearly 20 new visitors!
That’s the meaningful present I want to ask you for!
Step-by-step instructions:
- Pick a post of your choice.
- Share the link to the post on your Facebook page, Twitter or other site you frequent.
- Add a comment starting with #ItsMyPresent.
- Add #ToMojPrezent at the end of your comment. Owing to that we will be able to follow all of your posts, tweets, etc. along with the Polish ones with a single click.
E.g. #ItsMyPresent because it was made especially for me. #ToMojPrezent
#ItsMyPresent because I was one of the people who helped prepare it. #ToMojPrezent
#ItsMyPresent because I inspired it. #ToMojPrezent
#ItsMyPresent because I have done a similar one. #ToMojPrezent
#ItsMyPresent because I would love to receive such a present. #ToMojPrezent
Since pictures mean more than words, here is an infographic to sum it up:
I know that some of our readers don’t use Facebook or any other social media. Don’t worry, you can contribute to our meaningful present, too! Think of at least one person who hasn’t heard about our blog yet (at best someone who could be interested in creative presents), and make sure they visit us. Providing the address of our site is not enough – consider your task done if this person actually types the address in their mobile device or computer browser and visits the blog. If you succeed, let us know in the comments below (e.g. I showed the blog to my friend/cousin/niece).
Campaign duration: 2 weeks surrounding the actual name day, starting from now until the end of July. I will tell you how our present worked out at the beginning of August.
Thanks a lot in advance! I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed!
Joanna
My advice:
– Be careful to spell #ToMojPrezent correctly. The Polish word for a present is spelled with ‘z’!
– The fact that the #ItsMyPresent campaign officially ends on 31 July 2016 doesn’t mean that you can’t join in later if you accidentally forget about it or miss it because you were on holidays. If the campaign catches on, I will report the results again in September.
– Naturally, you may do much more than that, e.g. sign up to our monthly newsletter (each new subscriber will receive a short story written especially for our readers!), like us on Facebook, follow us on Tweeter, comment my blog posts or write me about a creative present you have made and want to share on our blog with others. As you can see, you can give us a meaningful present in many different ways that we will highly appreciate!
– My first ever infographic was made on an online graphic design platform: Canva , which I recommend to both beginners and slightly more advanced graphic designers.
