Would you like to surprise your co-workers with Christmas gifts? Don’t let money hold you back! There are many ways you can do it with a limited budget. Here is one of them: paper Christmas trees with best wishes.
How did I come up with the idea of paper Christmas trees?
For the last couple of years, I have had the pleasure to work in a very employee-friendly company. Each year the company rewards us with Christmas gifts in the form of rather expensive gift baskets. I wanted to add a personal touch to this and make additional small gifts for some of my closest colleagues. If I had bought them something lavish, they could have felt obliged to reciprocate my gesture. Besides, we rarely see each other out of work. It also had to be something small and unremarkable, so that my other colleagues wouldn’t be jealous. That’s how I came up with the idea of small paper Christmas trees.
How to make a paper Christmas tree?
In order to prepare my paper Christmas trees, you will need a sheet of paper, a pair of scissors and glue.
Flatten the paper once again and draw a circle with a glue stick. Concertina the paper again, pressing the branches together tightly.
Paper Christmas tree – how to personalise it?
The remaining steps depend on whether you want to personalise your Christmas trees. The Christmas trees will look even better if you make cuts on each branch and fold them. As a result, the branches will hold together better, and no glue will need to be used.
I didn’t do it because that would leave me less space for personalisation. What do I mean by that? Each of my paper Christmas trees contained best wishes and personal thanks for the time spent together. For a better effect, I also adorned branches with little stars and Christmas trees of a different colour. That’s how I produced original 3D greeting cards which gladdened the eye and delighted the hearts of the recipients.
I keep my fingers crossed that you bring a smile on somebody’s face with this Christmas gift, too!
My advice:
– If you don’t have colour paper at hand, you may print a colour square of an appropriate size. That’s what my colleague did. She was so charmed with the paper Christmas trees that she decided to learn how to make them on the very same day and folded one herself.
– If you don’t want to write anything on your Christmas tree, you may also use patterned paper or look for nice Christmas backgrounds on the Internet and print them.
